Cincinnati-based HealthAgree began in 2004 as Praesentia Consultation – a Latin nod to the presence of mind required to negotiate with large health insurers. Founder Dan Hounchell drew from his experience in health insurance and law to create a foundation for well-reasoned, process-driven negotiations. In 2005, Josh Kaufmann joined Dan, bringing his knowledge in public policy and business development to chart a course for HealthAgree’s future success.

Guided by a relentless pursuit of innovation, Dan left in 2009 to lead the transformation of a regional health system. In 2020, Shared Success meant extending terms to providers whose cash flow was strained by the pandemic. That same year we launched a Difficult Claims Resolution initiative with revenue cycle partners to ensure clients’ claims were paid.

The pandemic sparked significant growth in the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health sectors, prompting many post-acute providers to repurpose their facilities. We tracked with our clients, offering our expertise to overcome regulatory and operational hurdles that came to light. Adjacent to reimbursement negotiations, we leverage our own expertise to develop and manage evidence-based programs for those with substance use disorders and behavioral health diagnoses.nn
