Founder Dan Hounchell drew from his experience in health insurance and law to create a foundation for well-reasoned, process-driven negotiations. In 2005, Josh Kaufmann joined Dan, bringing his knowledge in public policy and business development to chart a course for HealthAgree’s future success.

HealthAgree then expanded into the Post-Acute sector, finding that family-run nursing homes and home health agencies were largely undifferentiated in the eyes of health insurers. This presented a significant opportunity for us to highlight the unique value propositions of our post-acute clients.

Recognizing the trend of vertical integration in Life Sciences, we understood that market access initiatives would eventually necessitate managed care contracts. Leveraging our distinct processes and relationships, we secured these contracts, and created newly revised medical policies, to open markets for several national and multi-national companies.

This means that we actively take on risk when we negotiate with insurers. In 2020, Shared Success meant extending terms to providers whose cash flow was strained by the pandemic. That same year we launched a Difficult Claims Resolution initiative with revenue cycle partners to ensure clients’ claims were paid.

Our Team

Josh Kaufmann
President and CEO

Since 2001, Josh has negotiated better market conditions, finding common ground for providers, innovators, and payers in the healthcare market. He’s held appointments with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Hudson Institute. He purchased HealthAgree in 2005 and is the sole owner. He has an M.A. in Communication from Miami University (OH).

Margaret Dobson
VP, SUD and Behavioral Health

Margaret provides technical assistance for behavioral health and addiction services. She’s held leadership roles at several hospital, academic, start-up and Community Mental Health organizations — both Mental Health- and Substance Use-focused. She is on her second stint with HealthAgree. Margaret has an MBA, Six Sigma credentials, and is a national CARF accreditation surveyor.

Greg Robinson
VP, Managed Care

Greg brings reimbursement expertise to HealthAgree projects across multiple markets. He’s responsible for deliverables that include pricing, contracting, and payment. Greg draws from leadership experience in acute care – general and psychiatric hospitals – and professional revenue cycle management. He has a Master’s from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University.

Paige Reitano
Director, Finance

Paige analyzes the financial performance of clients’ contracts with payers. This includes auditing implementation of new fee schedules and inclusion of new payer products. Paige has been in the financial and bookkeeping industry for over 10 years, working with both for-profit and not-for-profit companies. She received a B.A in Business from Miami University.

Sara Smith
VP, Operations

Sara joined HealthAgree in 2015 with responsibility for special projects, including the development of a third-party, multi-specialty network. Over time, she has worked all aspects of the business and recently helped launch the Claims Resolution business. Sara is responsible for operations and infrastructure, ensuring the availability of resources. Sara has a B.A. in Visual Art.

Stephanie Truett
Director, Claims Resolution

Stephanie is responsible for the medical billing and coding team behind HealthAgree’s Claims Resolution business. She is a CPC-certified medical coder through AAPC and brings 20+ years of experience and multiple certifications to bear on unpaid, unresolved claims. Stephanie joined HealthAgree in 2020.

Sydney Trego
Manager, Credentialing

Sydney designed and manages a proactive credentialing and re-credentialing process for clients. She’s also responsible for contracting with key Medicaid plans. Sydney is adept at navigating bureaucracy and getting hard-to-find answers quickly. She’s been with HealthAgree since 2015 and has a B.A. in Mathematics.

Trevor Self
Manager, Client Services

Trevor joined the Client Services team in 2023. He’s charged with layering in best practices from outside of healthcare and fostering professional relationships with clients and payers. He has account management and CPG marketing experience and is responsible for cross departmental collaboration on multiple projects. Trevor has a B.A. in Journalism & Psychology from Miami University (OH).
